My name is Alan Schulz, I am 38, and I live in Chicagoland with my wife and 4 children. We have lived in Illinois for 9 years and have found a nice little town at the edge of suburbia to call home.
I have a BS from USU in Welding Engineering Technology, and an MBA from Millikin University. I have spent most of my professional career developing manufacturing processes, identifying and resolving design issues, supporting design engineers with welded joint design, and lately Virtual Manufacturing (Assisting in the development of processes, facilities, and products virtually to ensure the highest quality at the time of implementation.)
When I have time, I like to tinker and make things. As a matter of fact, as an MBA graduation present to myself, I bought a Lincoln Invertech t205 TIG welder just so I can weld any metal that comes through the door.
Because I grew up the 5th of 8 kids almost everything I had as a child was a hand-me-down that had already went through my 3 older brothers and was either broken already or on its last leg. I found that fixing things came pretty naturally to me. Nowadays I often find broken things waiting for me on my nightstand from one of my children. They will say, “Dad will fix it when he gets home, he can fix anything.” This leads me to this website. I would like this website to be the place where people come to find the fix for whatever is broken. I would also like to be able to provide insight into why and how it failed.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy the content.
